Annelies MERTENS
Annelies Mertens is an interdisciplinary PhD researcher with the Department of Water and Climate at the Faculty of Engineering and the Centre for Environment, Economy and Energy (C3E) at the Brussels School of Governance. Her PhD research examines how community-based environmental monitoring and citizen science can contribute to climate risk adaptation and inclusive rights-based water governance in UNESCO Biosphere Reserves as part of the EcoBRIDGE project. Her previous work experience at UNESCO brings an international and institutional perspective to her research. As an interdisciplinary researcher she is committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and using science to create meaningful change.
