Annelies MERTENS
Annelies Mertens is a Bioscience Engineer and interdisciplinary PhD researcher with the Department of Water and Climate at the Faculty of Engineering and the Centre for Environment, Economy and Energy (C3E) at the Brussels School of Governance. Her PhD research examines how community-based environmental monitoring and citizen science can shape water resilience, climate risk adaptation and inclusive rights-based water governance in UNESCO Biosphere Reserves as part of the EcoBRIDGE project.
Building on professional experience in water resources management and international cooperation, including at UNESCO, she brings a practical and institutional perspective to her research. She is committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and using science to create meaningful change.
