Axel DEIJNS
Axel has a background in natural hazards, remote sensing and
physical geomorphology and joined the department in 2020 as a PhD researcher
under the supervision of Prof. Wim Thiery, with co-supervision of Dr. Olivier
Dewitte and Dr. François Kervyn at the Royal Museum for Central Africa. His research focusses on understanding the
role of land transformation and climate change on the occurrence of geomorphic
hazards and compound events in a changing tropical East Africa.
This project is funded by the Belgian Science Policy Office
(BELSPO) through the GEOTROP project entitled “GEOmorphic hazards and compound
events in a changing Tropical East Africa”.
