Maïa DE RIDDER

Maïa De Ridder is specialized in urban water management, working part-time at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and part-time at Canal It Up (non-profit organization). She started working at the VUB in October 2022.

She graduated as environmental engineer at the University of Ghent in 2020 specialized in land and water management. After her studies, she worked for six months in a landscape architecture company as a collaborator on water and climate related projects. Afterwards she worked for 1 year as a project engineer at IMDC, an international engineering and consultancy company specialized in water, in the integrated water management team. 

In October 2022 she joined the VUB, where she is part of the BrusseauBis project and of the collaboration between the infrastructure department and the hydrology department. Both initiatives aim at evaluating the role and the potential of blue-green infrastructure for integrated rain water management in Brussels and on the VUB campuses respectively.
