Fire and Water: A conscious game to raise environmental awareness for a resilient future
The Fire and Water project seeks to develop a digital “learning game” that translates technical data on wildfire–groundwater dynamics into an engaging educational tool targeted at urban high school students (ages 13–18) and university students in Belgium and Bolivia. In alignment with Avelino Siñani Law, the game will transform real-life environmental problems into practical learning experiences. Small-scale farmers and volunteer firefighters, though not the primary audience, will share first-hand experiences to ensure the game’s accuracy and relevance. Belgian water researchers, including experts in psychopedagogy and programming, will provide additional insights to refine and expand the tool. By integrating local knowledge with a forward-thinking approach to youth education, the project underscores the importance of both fire prevention and sustainable water use, essential pillars for climate resilience in Bolivia and beyond. The tool will also increase awareness of water and fire challenges in Bolivia among Belgian students and researchers.
