IRP GROW: Reuse of treated wastewater – environmental impacts and public perception
In this interdisciplinary project, we investigate if the use of treated wastewater for irrigation and/or artificial recharge is acceptable from an environmental and consumer perspective. A field experiment on using treated wastewater for irrigation and groundwater recharge and a study on public perception are run in parallel. The aim is to identify the effects for groundwater, river water and crop quantity and quality by an intense monitoring scheme and modelling, and to develop communication strategies for these kind of applications for the general public and policy makers.
