Watch: Indigenous Empowerment for Environmental Justice
Welcome to the webpage for our project focused on
water quality citizen science in the indigenous communities of Chojasivi,
situated along the shores of Lake Titicaca. Our initiative aims to empower
these communities to monitor the pollution affecting their environment
effectively.
In collaboration with four indigenous communities in Chojasivi and the Bolivian Catholic University, we are undertaking a comprehensive effort to assess and understand the water quality challenges facing Lake Titicaca. Through the application of citizen science methodologies, community members will be actively involved in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Our approach prioritizes collaboration, scientific rigor, and respect for indigenous knowledge systems. By working hand in hand with the communities of Chojasivi, we aim to contribute to a more holistic understanding of water quality issues in Lake Titicaca and support the empowerment of indigenous peoples in advocating for their environmental rights.
