CAPSULE

The CAPSULE (Modelling Antarctic Blue Ice areas to provide the oldest climatic reconstruction revealed from ice cores) project investigates Antarctic blue ice areas to unlock some of the oldest climate archives on Earth. It combines advanced ice flow modelling and ice core analyses to overcome the challenges of complex ice dynamics and spatially variable ages. By measuring CO₂ concentrations and isotopic compositions in ancient ice, CAPSULE will refine our understanding of the CO₂–temperature relationship during past warm periods, improving predictions of future climate change. CAPSULE relies on Antarctic fieldwork missions from the FROID and BE COOL projects.

The CAPSULE project is funded as junior postdoctoral fellowship by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO).
